“RECUERDOS DE MEXICO” Concert
On May 1, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. The Orange County High School of the Arts (OCHSA), a nationally recognized arts school that provides bright and talented students with a creative and challenging educational environment, proudly presents “Recuerdos de Mexico,” an International Dance Conservatory Concert.
This dynamic performance will showcase students currently enrolled in the school’s International Dance Conservatory, formerly known as the Ballet Folklorico Conservatory, in dances from the regions of Chihuahua, Costa de Nayarit, Baja California, Veracruz and Jalisco. Additionally, they will present a newly choreographed piece, titled “Noche en Veracruz,” recreating the Fandangos ofsouthern Veracruz accompanied by Son Jarocho group Son del Centro.
As one of the premier arts schools in the nation, OCHSA embraces and encourages artistic creativity and academic excellence. The International Dance Conservatory features a diverse offering of international dance forms, including Ballet Folklorico and other Latin-inspired styles, such as Flamenco, Salsa, Samba, and Tango. Additional International dance styles may be added in the future as the program expands, such as African dance, Bollywood, Irish dance, Latin ballroom (Cha Cha, Rumba, Jive, Paso Doble) and Standard ballroom (Waltz, Quickstep, Tango, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz). Come celebrate the talent of these aspiring young dancers.
