MANA de OC: Human Trafficking – Jan 26
McCabe’s book “Without Sin” was inspired by actual events that took place in Oceanside, California where the FBI, INS and San Diego County Sheriff shut down a sex trafficking ring that exploited young, undocumented women. The book has left its impression on readers and critics alike who both praise the book as “powerful and provocative.”
David S. McCabe is the Coordinator of the Teacher Preparation Program at Pasadena City College and has been an educator in Southern California for twenty years where he has worked closely with migrant children and their families.
During his career he has had to confront such serious issues as child abuse, drug use and molestation as well as help families gain access to the services they needed while coping with fears surrounding their immigration status. He currently serves as the advisor for Students Beyond Boundaries, a student organization advocating for the rights of all people.
On Saturday, the event will be moderated by Dr. Kim Salter, NOW OC representative on the OC Human Trafficking task force. The panel is scheduled to include David S. McCabe, Author, Without Sin, Virginia Isaias, Human Trafficking Survivors’ Foundation, Juanita Lopez, Testimonial on Domestic Violence and Dr. Ana Nogales, Casa de la Familia Psychologist with translation provided by Francisco Barragán.
Join MANA de Orange County as they examine this grave local, national and global issue. The community is welcome but due to the sensitivity of the subject matter no children, please.
